Naming

Cleistocactus hyalacanthus was already described and the name validly published by Karl Moritz Schumann. It was Robert Roland-Gosselin, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics .

Taxonomy

Cleistocactus hyalacanthus is a species in the genus Cleistocactus which contains approximately 54 to 69 species and belongs to the family of the Cactaceae (Cactus Family). The type species of the genus is Cleistocactus baumannii.
