Orbea melanantha is a succulent perennial.

Naming

Orbea melanantha was already described and the name validly published by Friedrich Richard Rudolf Schlechter. It was Peter Vincent Bruyns, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics in 2000.

Taxonomy

Orbea melanantha is a species in the genus Orbea which contains approximately 31 to 64 species and belongs to the family of the Apocynaceae (Dogbane Family). The type species of the genus is Orbea variegata.
