Naming

Orbea lutea subsp. vaga was already described and the name validly published by Nicholas Edward Brown. It was Peter Vincent Bruyns, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics in 2000.

Taxonomy

Orbea lutea subsp. vaga is a subspecies in the genus Orbea which contains approximately 31 to 64 species and belongs to the family of the Apocynaceae (Dogbane Family). The type species of the genus is Orbea variegata.
