Acrocomia aculeata is a tree.

Naming

Acrocomia aculeata was already described and the name validly published by Nicolaus Joseph von Jacquin. It was Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics based on a prior description by Conrad Loddiges.
