Acokanthera oblongifolia is a shrub.

Naming

Acokanthera oblongifolia was already described and the name validly published by Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter. It was Benjamin Daydon Jackson, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics based on a prior description by George Bentham and Joseph Dalton Hooker.

Taxonomy

Acokanthera oblongifolia is a species in the genus Acokanthera which contains approximately 5 to 8 species and belongs to the family of the Apocynaceae (Dogbane Family).

The shrubs reach heights of 3 to 6 metres.

Acokanthera oblongifolia produces cluster of white five-stellate flowers from February to April.

Acokanthera oblongifolia is native to South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.
