Rosa webbiana was already described by Nathaniel Wallich but it was not until 1829 that the name was validly published by John Forbes Royle.

Rosa webbiana is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 3 meters.

[edit] Leaves

Rosa webbiana is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are elliptic with doubly serraty margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and pink. The plants bloom from June to August. The flowers are arranged in corymbs.

The red fruits are hips. They develop in summer.

Rosa webbiana is native to Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Himalaya and China.

Rosa webbiana prefers a sunny to half shady site and can withstand temperatures down to -23,3º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil that is dry to moderately moist.
