Rosa roxburghii var. hirtula was already described and the name validly published by Eduard August von Regel. It was not until some time later, however, that Alfred Rehder and Ernest Henry Wilson reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa roxburghii var. hirtula is a variety in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 2,5 meters.

Rosa roxburghii var. hirtula is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are mid green and elliptic with serrulate margins.
