Rosa rhaetica was described in 1881 by August Gremli. The name is considered as validly published.

Rosa rhaetica is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 2 meters.

Rosa rhaetica is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another.
