Rosa pendulina var. pyrenaica was already described and the name validly published by Antoine Gouan. It was not until 1902, however, that Robert Keller reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa pendulina var. pyrenaica is a variety in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 0,8 meters.

Rosa pendulina var. pyrenaica is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are dark green and obovate with doubly serraty margins.
