Rosa oxyodon was described in 1873 by Pierre Edmond Boissier. The name is considered as validly published.

Rosa oxyodon is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

Rosa oxyodon has imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another.

Rosa oxyodon is native to the eastern Caucasus.

Rosa oxyodon prefers a sunny to half shady site and can withstand temperatures down to -23,3º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil that is dry to moderately moist.
