Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis was already described and the name validly published by Robert Allen Rolfe. It was not until 1977, however, that Andrew Vaughan Roberts reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis is a subspecies in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 4 meters.

Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are elliptic with serrulate margins.
