Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis was already described and the name validly published by Robert Allen Rolfe. It was not until 1977, however, that Andrew Vaughan Roberts reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis is a subspecies in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 4 meters.

Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are elliptic with serrulate margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and white. The plants bloom from May to June. The flowers are arranged solitary.
The red fruits are hips. They develop in summer.

Rosa sericea ssp. omeiensis prefers a sunny to half shady site and can withstand temperatures down to -23,3º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil that is dry to moderately moist.
