Rosa multiflora was described in 1784 by Carl Peter Thunberg. The name is considered as validly published.

The Multiflora Rose is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 5 meters.

Rosa multiflora is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are mid green and ovate with serrate margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and white. The plants bloom from June to July. The flowers are arranged in corymbs.

The brown fruits are hips and very ornamental.

Rosa multiflora is native to Japan and Korea.

The Multiflora Rose prefers a sunny to half shady site and can withstand temperatures down to -28,2º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil that is dry to moderately moist.
