Rosa mulliganii was described in 1937 by George Albert Boulenger. The name is considered as validly published.

Rosa mulliganii is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The climbers grow to a height of approximately 6 meters.

Rosa mulliganii is an evergreen plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are greyish green and ovate with serrate margins.

The scented flowers are five-petaled and white. The plants bloom from May to July. They are arranged in corymbs.

The red fruits are hips.
