Rosa ecae was described in 1880 by James Edward Tierney Aitchison. The name is considered as validly published.

Rosa ecae is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 2 meters.

Rosa ecae is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are mid green and obovate with scalloped margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and yellow. The plants bloom from May to June. The flowers are arranged solitary.

The fruits are hips.

Rosa ecae is native to Afghanistan, northwest Pakistan, Central Asia and north China.

Rosa ecae prefers a sunny to half shady site and can withstand temperatures down to -17,7º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil that is dry to moderately moist.
