Rosa davidii was described in 1874 by François Crépin. The name is considered as validly published.

Rosa davidii is a species in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 4 meters.

Rosa davidii is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are ovate with serrate margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and dark pink. The plants bloom from June to July. The flowers are arranged in corymbs.
The red fruits are hips and very ornamental. They develop in autumn.
