Rosa caesia ssp. glauca was already described and the name validly published by Carl Frederik Nyman. It was not until 1990, however, that George Gordon Graham and António Lelis Pinheiro reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa caesia ssp. glauca is a subspecies in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 1,5 meters.

Rosa caesia ssp. glauca is a decidious plant with imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are bluish green and elliptic with scalloped margins.
