Rosa arkansana var. suffulta was already described and the name validly published by Edward Lee Greene. It was not until 1900, however, that Theodore Dru Alison Cockerell reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa arkansana var. suffulta is a variety in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The subshrubs grow to a height of approximately 0,6 meters.

Rosa arkansana var. suffulta has imparipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are ovate with serrate margins.

The flowers are five-petaled and pink. The plants bloom from May to August. The flowers are arranged in corymbs.
The red fruits are hips. They develop in autumn.
