Rosa arkansana var. suffulta was already described and the name validly published by Edward Lee Greene. It was not until 1900, however, that Theodore Dru Alison Cockerell reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Rosa arkansana var. suffulta is a variety in the genus Rosa (rose) which contains 149 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The subshrubs grow to a height of approximately 0,6 meters.
