Helichrysum petiolare, commonly known as liquorice plant, is a shrub or half-shrub with attractive silver-green foliage. The species was described in 1973 by Olive Mary Hilliard and Brian Laurence Burtt. The name is considered as validly published. The liquorice plant is a species in the genus Helichrysum (strawflower, a common name also used for Rhodanthe) which contains ca. 500 species and belongs to the family of the Asteraceae (Aster Family).
