Viola cornuta (horned violet) is a perennial. There are a lot of different hybrid-cultivars available since it hybridizes easily with other violets like Viola wittrockiana and Viola tricolor. The species was described by Carl von Linné in the second editions of his Species plantarum in 1763. The common name comes from latin <cornu = horn>.
