Help:Create new page
From Hortipedia
|
It is really easy to create new pages on Hortipedia. Please read the following instruction so pages do not end up as dead-end pages. |
How to
The best is to go to a page whose supject has some sort of relationt to the new page (e.g. Roses if you want to create an article about Rosa rugosa).
- click on "edit" and enter the title of the new page in square brackets: [[Rosa canina]]. An even better way is to find the term somewhere in an existing text and put the brackets around it.
- now click on "Show preview" and you will see the new page title as a red link: Rosa canina. If a page with that name already exists the link will be blue: Rosa canina.
- save the page, click on the red link and you will automatically directed to a blank page which you can now edit and save.
Special characters
The following characters can not be used in page titles since they have a special meaning in HTTP, MediaWiki or for your browser:
" # $ * + < > = @ [ ] \ ^ ` { } | ~
/ is not permitted either since it is used to create sub pages.
It the first character of a title is a lowercase letter it will automatically changed into a capital letter.
Underline and space characters are coequal: space characters are used in page titles, underline characters in the URL.
