Draba corrugata var. saxosa was already described and the name validly published by Anstruther Davidson. It was not until 1923, however, that Philip Alexander Munz and Ivan Murray Johnston reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Draba corrugata var. saxosa is a variety in the genus Draba (whitlow grass) which contains 300 species and belongs to the family of the Brassicaceae (Mustard Family).
