Draba rigida var. bryoides was already described and the name validly published by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle. It was not until some time later, however, that Pierre Edmond Boissier reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Draba rigida var. bryoides is a variety in the genus Draba (whitlow grass) which contains 300 species and belongs to the family of the Brassicaceae (Mustard Family).
