Draba aleutica was already described by Erik Leonard Ekman but it was not until 1936 that the name was validly published by Oskar Eric Gunnar Hultén.

Draba aleutica is a species in the genus Draba (whitlow grass) which contains 300 species and belongs to the family of the Brassicaceae (Mustard Family).

The perennials grow to a height of approximately 0,1 meters and develop as mats.

Draba aleutica is an evergreen plant with simple leaves. The leaves are arranged in rosettes. They are oblanceolate with ciliate margins.

The flowers are cross-shaped and pale yellow. The plants bloom from May to July. The flowers are arranged in racemes.

Draba aleutica is native to Sibiria and Alaska.
