Conophytum angelicae was already described and the name validly published by Moritz Kurt Dinter and Martin Heinrich Gustav Schwantes. It was not until 1925, however, that Nicholas Edward Brown reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Conophytum angelicae is a species in the genus Conophytum which contains 90 species and belongs to the family of the Aizoaceae (Fig-marigold Family).
