Conophytum ficiforme was already described and the name validly published by Adrian Hardy Haworth. It was not until 1922, however, that Nicholas Edward Brown reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Conophytum ficiforme is a species in the genus Conophytum which contains 90 species and belongs to the family of the Aizoaceae (Fig-marigold Family).

The perennials grow to a height of approximately 0,15 meters.

Conophytum ficiforme is an evergreen plant with simple leaves. The leaves are arranged alternately along the stems. They are orbicular with entire margins.

The flowers are many-petaled and purple. The plants bloom from October to December. The flowers are arranged solitary.
