Cheiridopsis caroli-schmidtii was already described and the name validly published by Moritz Kurt Dinter and Alwin Berger. It was not until 1926, however, that Nicholas Edward Brown reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Cheiridopsis caroli-schmidtii is a species in the genus Cheiridopsis which contains 31 species and belongs to the family of the Aizoaceae (Fig-marigold Family).

The perennials grow to a height of approximately 0,1 meters and develop as mats.
