Cheiridopsis robusta was already described and the name validly published by Adrian Hardy Haworth. It was not until 1920, however, that Nicholas Edward Brown reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Cheiridopsis robusta is a species in the genus Cheiridopsis which contains 31 species and belongs to the family of the Aizoaceae (Fig-marigold Family).
