Calceolaria biflora was described in 1785 by Jean Baptiste de Monnet de Lamarck. The name is considered as validly published.

Calceolaria biflora is a species in the genus Calceolaria (slipperwort) which contains 388 species and belongs to the family of the Scrophulariaceae (Figwort Family).

The perennials grow to a height of approximately 0,25 meters and develop as mats.

Calceolaria biflora is an evergreen plant with simple leaves. The leaves are arranged in rosettes. They are dark green and oblanceolate with toothed margins.

The flowers are yellow. The plants bloom from May to June. The flowers are arranged in racemes.

The fruits are septicidal capsules.
