Bomarea multiflora was already described and the name validly published by Carl Linnaeus (Sohn). It was not until 1804, however, that Charles François Brisseau de Mirbel reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Bomarea multiflora is a species in the genus Bomarea which contains 120 species and belongs to the family of the Alstroemeriaceae (Peruvian-lily Family).
