Astroloba rubriflora was already described and the name validly published by Harriet Margaret Louisa Bolus. It was not until 2000, however, that Gideon Francois Smith and John Charles Manning reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Astroloba rubriflora is a species in the genus Astroloba which contains 6 species and belongs to the family of the Aloaceae (Aloe Family).
