Aristolochia anguicida was described in 1864 by Nicolaus Joseph von Jacquin. The name is considered as validly published.

Aristolochia anguicida is a species in the genus Aristolochia (Dutchman's pipe) which contains 300 species and belongs to the family of the Aristolochiaceae (Birthwort Family).
