Allium ramosum was described in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus. The name is considered as validly published.

The Fragrant Garlic is a species in the genus Allium (onion) which contains 824 species and belongs to the family of the Alliaceae (Garlic Family).

The plants grow to a height of approximately 0,45 meters.

Allium ramosum is a decidious plant with simple leaves. The leaves appear at the base of the plant. They are linear with entire margins.

The Fragrant Garlic prefers a sunny site and can withstand temperatures down to -17,7º C. It grows best in sandy or pebbly, loamy soil, sandy clay soil that is dry to moderately moist.
