Allium bolanderi var. mirabile was already described and the name validly published by Louis Forniquet Henderson. It was not until 1992, however, that Dale W. McNeal reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Allium bolanderi var. mirabile is a variety in the genus Allium (onion) which contains 824 species and belongs to the family of the Alliaceae (Garlic Family).

The plants grow to a height of approximately 0,35 meters.

Allium bolanderi var. mirabile is a decidious plant with simple leaves. The leaves appear at the base of the plant. They are linear with entire margins.
