Alchemilla xanthochlora was described in 1937 by Werner Hugo Paul Rothmaler. The name is considered as validly published.

Alchemilla xanthochlora is a species in the genus Alchemilla (lady's mantle) which contains 300 species and belongs to the family of the Rosaceae (Rose Family).

The perennials grow to a height of approximately 0,5 meters and develop into clumps.
