Agropyron cristatum ssp. pectinatum var. imbricatum was already described and the name validly published by Johann Jakob Roemer and Josef August Schultes. It was not until some time later, however, that Günther von Mannagetta und Lérchenau Beck reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.
