Acineta superba was already described and the name validly published by Karl Sigismund Kunth. It was not until 1863, however, that Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Acineta superba is a species in the genus Acineta which belongs to the family of the Orchidaceae (Orchid Family).
