Achillea oxyloba was already described and the name validly published by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle. It was not until 1855, however, that Carl Heinrich Schultz reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Achillea oxyloba is a species in the genus Achillea (yarrow) which contains 85 species and belongs to the family of the Asteraceae (Aster Family).
