The Common Yarrow is a subspecies in the genus Achillea (yarrow) which contains 85 species and belongs to the family of the Asteraceae (Aster Family).

Achillea millefolium ssp. millefolium is native to the whole of Europe, Turkey, the Caucasus, Iran, the Himalaya, west Sibiria, Central Asia, is naturalized in North America and Australia and New Zealand.
