Achillea ageratifolia ssp. serbica was already described and the name validly published by Carl Frederik Nyman. It was not until 1884, however, that Anton Heimerl reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Achillea ageratifolia ssp. serbica is a subspecies in the genus Achillea (yarrow) which contains 85 species and belongs to the family of the Asteraceae (Aster Family).
