Acer pseudosieboldianum was already described and the name validly published by Ferdinand Albin Pax. It was not until some time later, however, that Vladimir Leontjevich Komarov reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Acer pseudosieboldianum is a species in the genus Acer (maple) which contains 111 species and belongs to the family of the Aceraceae (Maple Family).

The trees grow to a height of approximately 6 meters and have a rounded to broadly spreading shape.

Acer pseudosieboldianum is a decidious plant with simple leaves. The leaves are arranged alternately along the stems. They are mid green and palmately lobed with finely toothed margins. The foliage colour in autumn is brilliant orange bis purple.

The flowers are five-petaled and dark red. The flowers are arranged in corymbs.
The fruits are schizocarps.
