Acer tataricum ssp. aidzuense was already described and the name validly published by Adrien René Franchet. It was not until 1994, however, that P.C. de Jong reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.

Acer tataricum ssp. aidzuense is a subspecies in the genus Acer (maple) which contains 111 species and belongs to the family of the Aceraceae (Maple Family).
