Acacia pravissima was described in 1882 by Ferdinand Jacob Heinrich von Mueller. The name is considered as validly published.

The Alpine Wattle is a species in the genus Acacia (wattle) which contains 1200 species and belongs to the family of the Fabaceae (Legume Family).

The trees grow to a height of approximately 8 meters and have a rounded to broadly spreading shape.

Acacia pravissima is an evergreen plant with bipinnate leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are greyish green and ovate with entire margins.

The flowers are spherical and yellow. The plants bloom from January to March. The flowers are arranged in racemes.

The fruits are legumes.
