Naming
Euphorbia cuphosperma was already described and the name validly published by Georg Engelmann. It was not until 1862, however, that Pierre Edmond Boissier reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics.
Taxonomy
Euphorbia cuphosperma is a species in the genus Euphorbia (milkweed) which contains 1603 species and belongs to the family of the Euphorbiaceae (Spurge Family).
